Almost 3 years of learning Unreal Engine and developing the project. This is what version 3.0 looks like now (It's not fully ready yet). There is a huge number of different systems in the project, eg climbing, swimming, shooting, etc. It is mostly based on Blueprint, but it also has some C code (Includes 2 plugins of my authorship). The project is NOT replicated and was created on Unreal Engine 5.0. Works on 5.1 but requires additional configuration, however for 5.2 engine it has not been tested. This means that it may not be compatible with this version. Packaged only for Windows x64 (UE 5.0 and 5.1) In the demo scene, when 5 AI controllers are moving around, my PC keeps the FPS between 68-80. I will add that I played with Lumen turned on and hardware raytracing (all in high mode). My computer spec: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060, AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, 32GB RAM The project without compressed takes about 2.5 GB of disk space. Not all animations are included in the project. The current downloadable version is 2.9. By default the Lumen is disabled. Everything that was presented in the video is included in VERSION 2.9, except for the possibility of aiming while cover. Now there are several of them. 5) New rifle picking system 6) New sniper rifle system - Now the crosshair is generated by postprocess material. Additionally, has been added a non-linear projectile trajectory , which means that with the distance from the target, the final hit will be lower than the center of the crosshair. 7) New Crosshair for Bow - Previously it was a UI crosshair now it is trajectory prediction just like holding a grenade. 8) New torch lighting system 9) Additive animations prepared for Crawl System (previous ones were not compatible) 10) Added a new overlay poses system specifically for the Crawl System. Add Preview Mesh. Select a weapon. - Move/Rotate the socket until it fits the hand. ### ATTACHING TO NEW SKELETON - Find the function that attaches weapons - Find a node probably called "AttachComponentToComponent", replace socket name by the name you gave to your hand sockets in the skeleton. - On the same node, replace the "parent" pin by your new character "body" mesh.

Being able to interact with scenes with a more in depth character controller changes how I think about scene / level design on top of it just being fun to be able to run and climb around. In this video I cover how you can import the advanced locomotion asset into your existing project. I will look to integrate this asset pack with a network enabled project and make another video covering the steps required to achieve it!
Just wanted to share my progress with a True First Person version of the ALS asset. Everything was made using procedural animations (controled using logic in the AnimBP), including the ADS part. And of course with a SOLID implementation, using C and virtual funcions. This is something that I always wanted to have in ALS but no one manage to achieve, a True First Person version (as far as I know). It has a easy and simple customization for other weapons. Therefore, it isn't finished yet. I'm planning to put some recoil animations and some basic weapon firing logic for demonstration.

Attention! The method I used is not perfect. There are problems with, for example, the fingers. The main reason for this is that the UE4 skeleton is not fully compatible with Metahuman. But the UE5 skeleton does, which allows you to easily retarget from UE4 skeleton to UE5 skeleton to Metahuman Render Mesh. Unfortunately, the process using two FullBodyIK nodes, which may burden the processor a bit. A very important element is that the UE5 skeleton must be 'stretched' in order to be proportional to the UE4 skeleton. I am going to SHARE files which retarget UE4 skeleton to UE5 in real time. This makes adding metahuman a formality. This add-on is compatibility with ALS v4 or IWALS 2.1 to 2.4. 🤍

In this video, we take a look at the Advanced Locomotion System, specifically the community version on Github that is maintained primarily by the user dyanikoglu. The Advanced Locomotion System, ALS for short. is a robust animation layering system provided for free on the unreal engine marketplace. Unfortunately, the original creator has announced that he is no longer updating the marketplace version, which has led to various efforts by the community to keep updating the plugin. The community version addresses bugs from the original marketplace version of the plugin and adds support for multiplayer and replication. A lot of the core functionality of the community version is written in C so some UE4 C knowledge is recommended if you want to modify the plugin.
